Biography

Goli Ameri is the President & CEO of the Center for Global Engagement with the mission to foster engagement between the United States and the rest of the world, The goal is to promote shared values and increase mutual understanding and respect. She was the Under Secretary for Humanitarian Diplomacy at the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the world’s largest humanitarian organization responsible for global diplomacy. Ms. Ameri served as the US Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs, which fosters mutual understanding between the people of the United States and people around the world. Ms. Ameri’s previous positions includes serving as a presidentially-nominated Representative to the 60th Session of the United Nations General Assembly and a Public Delegate to the United Nations Commission on Human Rights.
Prior to her government service, Ms. Ameri had extensive corporate experience, founding eTinium, a boutique consulting and market research firm specializing in the telecom industry, and as a director at US Leasing where she was responsible for technology assessments. Ms. Ameri received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Stanford University, and has also studied at the Sorbonne. She is fluent in French and Persian and is conversant in Spanish. Ms. Ameri serves on the board of Freedom House and the World Affairs Council of Oregon. She is also the US Regional Chair of the YPO global diplomacy and public policy network. She is the recipient of the Ellis Island Medal of Honor, which is awarded to U.S. citizens who exemplify American ideals while preserving the rich heritage of their ancestors.
