Biography

Born and educated in Tehran, Iran, she moved to The United States in 1979 after earning a B.A in Political Science. Mitra was a collage artist before starting making sculptures. once she worked with steel, she knew she has found her favorite medium. Ever since 2005 she has made several, often big sculptures. Some of them reflects her passion for peace; having nations resolving their conflicts through non-violent means. As an activist she has been the recipient of the National Capital Area Peacemaker Award; founder and Director of MidEast 2000, a grassroots, non-partisan, non-profit organization dedicated to the possibility of peace and human rights in the Middle East.
She is a director of Rockport Institute, the global leader in developing career coaching methodologies for people seeking a high level of personal satisfaction and success in the workplace. Rockport Institute was founded by Nicholas Lore, Mitra’s husband in 1981. Mitra’s passion is making sure especially young people choosing their educational and career path with confidence and clarity.

Sculpture Now in Washington Dc, Art-O-Matic, Evolving Perception, Art Trekking, The Art Place, Nomadic Kenyan Children’s Education Fund show and two Busboys & Poets.
