Dordaneh Ashouriha Hometown: Tehran, Iran

Dordaneh has an Associate degree in Chemistry and Social & Behavioral Sciences from Irvine Valley College. She got her bachelor of science in Public Health Sciences and a minor in Persian Studies at the University of California, Irvine in 2018. After transferring to UCI, she became an executive board member of the Iranian Student Union (ISU). Since 2015, she has been a part of the board, and she was the ISU president during 2017-18 school year. She is currently serving as the graduate advisor of the club. Her experience with ISU helped her in developing leadership skills. Dordaneh was a Persian Language mentor for the peer-to-peer language mentorship program of the UCI Humanities department. Dordaneh is currently serving as a board member of the UCI Iranian-American Alumni Chapter Leaders, and the Society of Iranian Graduate Students. She joined the Iranian American Women Foundation (IAWF) in October 2018 and has been working as the director of Digital Marketing who manages all of the foundations social media accounts. Dordaneh moved to the United States from Tehran, Iran at the age of 14, and finished High School in Irvine, California. She has always been interested in helping the community and getting involved with different Student clubs and nonprofit organizations. She has been shadowing dentists, and volunteering for Susan G. Komen for the Cure since 2010 in a fight against breast cancer. She enjoys learning about the human body and dissecting to learn everything visually. She was always interested in science and human health. Having artistic parents, she grew up in an art-appreciating environment. Dordaneh has found dentistry more fitting for her personality as it is a combination of Science and Arts. As she is equipped with manual dexterity and enjoys an innate passion to help improve human health quality, she is aiming to reach her ultimate goal to become a dentist.
