Biography

Keemia Shariati recently graduated from UCLA in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and is currently enrolled in the Pre-Health Professional Academic Program at Cal State East Bay. As a pre-dental student, her fervent desire is to fuse her two greatest passions in life: dentistry and service. She strives to improve access to care for middle school children and families from underserved neighborhoods across the East Bay Area as a mentor of a Junior Youth Spiritual Empowerment Program (JYSEP). Keemia is not only a volunteer research assistant in the Kapila Laboratory under the Department of Orofacial Sciences at UCSF School of Dentistry as well as the Assistant Secretary of the Local Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá’is of Contra Costa County Central (CCCC) and the Community Engagement Intern at the non-profit White Pony Express, but she is also the partnership manager and team manager of the Dentist on Wheels initiative to put together a mobile dental clinic for underserved, uninsured adult communities in Contra Costa County. In In her free time, Keemia enjoys making mini origami figures and journaling about her volunteering initiatives, in addition to hiking, biking, traveling, drinking chai, and spending time with friends and family.
