Biography

Mona, a native of Tehran Iran, grew up in the States, attending UCLA for her undergraduate studies. From there her passion and curiosity in debating legal issues led her to earn her law degree at the Golden Gate University of Law, completing her Juris-Doctorate in a specialization in Criminal Law Studies. Initially her love of law and order style jury trials led her to work at the District Attorney’s Office where she began prosecuting defendants for misdemeanor crimes, however she quickly realized that her heart is in defending the accused and she applied and was hired at the public defender’s office. Currently Mona works at the office of the Alternate Public Defender’s in Los Angeles County where she is a court appointed attorney, defending the rights of the indigent accused of committing various types of crimes. Her dedication to working with non-profit organizations, such as Short-Stop Crimes, The Innocence Project, CHILD, IABA and of course increasing awareness for womens rights through the Iranian-American Womens Foundation continues to drive her commitment to make positive change.
