Biography

Nadereh Chamlou is a former Senior Advisor of the World Bank where, over a 30+ year career, she held managerial, technical, coordination, and advisory positions in such areas as economic management, private sector development, financial markets, knowledge management, environmental sustainability, infrastructure, corporate governance, and gender equality and women’s empowerment. Her regional experience extends to Latin America, East Asia and Pacific, Eastern Europe, and Middle East and North Africa. She has authored several seminal publications. Her research focuses on entrepreneurship and private sector development, particularly on talent pool and knowledge economy, stressing competitiveness and growth through diversity and gender inclusion. She serves on several boards, and is currently an International Development Advisor to development institutions, private sector initiatives, and regional and global NGOs. She is the founder of the Persianate Global Network for the Economic Empowerment of Women (PGN). She is a frequent speaker at regional and international conferences and was the 2015 recipient of The Global Alliance for Women’s “Making a Difference” Award.
