Mentorship

To sustain and share the hard-earned and diverse accomplishments of our community members, the IAWF Mentorship Program brings the seasoned skills and achievements of our leaders to the aspiring younger generation of Iranian Americans. Professionally trained staff will provide an initial in-depth orientation, ongoing liaison, and logistical support for all participants.  Mentors and mentees will also be supported with guidelines and a detailed handbook.

Program goals include:

o Creating space for deeper connection and co-learning.

o Helping the next generation find clarity and focus regarding their professional and personal paths.

o Offering a unique platform for experienced Iranian American women across various fields to provide guidance to the next generation of professionals in their respective areas of interest and equally enjoy the benefit of learning from their mentees.

o Providing opportunities for participants to build their networks and connect to field experts.

o Preparing the next generation with the support they need to take their next professional steps with confidence.

o Supporting and expanding the Iranian American community.

For our program, the term profession is any occupational undertaking, which suits the individual needs, wants, and creative potential. We would therefore define ‘profession’ as an occupational undertaking which may include professional positions within various for profit, nonprofit, government, or philanthropic organizations, as well as creative undertakings in activism, arts, social justice, sports, altruism, and family development.

Application is now Open for New York, San Francisco, Washington D.C. and Orange County cohorts.

Life Academy

IAWF’s Life Academy program was created in 2014 with a purpose to equip students with the tools, information, and networks they need to guide decision-making in their professional lives while also building a bridge between the experienced generation of successful Iranian Americans and the younger generation currently en-route to building their professional careers.

The Life Academy program is a two to three days long training which allows participants to explore many career paths available to them in our Nation. The location of the Life Academy training will differ each year.

Through the Life Academy program, we create engaging dialogues, allowing participants to converse with speakers and learn about each speaker’s path to their current position, benefits and struggles of each given career, and discover what a typical workday looks like.

The Life Academy program also includes workshops on how to pick a fitting career, leave positive impressions, tell a powerful personal story, and network effectively.

PAST LIFE ACADEMY TRAININGS:

Life Academy: Pathways to Success 2014 in Orange County

Life Academy: Pathways to Success 2016 in Washington DC

Life Academy: Pathways to Success 2018 in Silicon Valley
