Mentorship

Mentorship Program

To sustain and share the hard-earned and diverse accomplishments of our community members, the IAWF Mentorship Program brings the seasoned skills and achievements of our leaders to the aspiring younger generation of Iranian Americans. Professionally trained staff will provide an initial in-depth orientation, ongoing liaison, and logistical support for all participants.  Mentors and mentees will also be supported with guidelines and a detailed handbook.

Program goals include:

o Creating space for deeper connection and co-learning.

o Helping the next generation find clarity and focus regarding their professional and personal paths.

o Offering a unique platform for experienced Iranian American women across various fields to provide guidance to the next generation of professionals in their respective areas of interest and equally enjoy the benefit of learning from their mentees.

o Providing opportunities for participants to build their networks and connect to field experts.

o Preparing the next generation with the support they need to take their next professional steps with confidence.

o Supporting and expanding the Iranian American community.

For our program, the term profession is any occupational undertaking, which suits the individual needs, wants, and creative potential. We would therefore define ‘profession’ as an occupational undertaking which may include professional positions within various for profit, nonprofit, government, or philanthropic organizations, as well as creative undertakings in activism, arts, social justice, sports, altruism, and family development.

Application is now Open for New York, San Francisco, Washington D.C. and Orange County cohorts.

Testimonials

“My experiences with Laya Khadjavi as a part of this mentorship program have been invaluable. Laya has been such a tremendous resource for me and has served as a key contributor to my growth as a professional within my industry. We regularly have calls with one another and touch base on a consistent basis. She has advised me through a number of difficult situations and has shared a number of the personal experiences that she encountered through her time within the industry with me as well. All in all it has been truly amazing to have someone with her knowledge and experience within my industry to have as a resource as I grow my professional career. I am extremely thankful and appreciative to the Iranian American Women Foundation for connecting the two of us.”

“I had a meeting with my mentor around 2 months ago and it was very beneficial for me since I wasn’t in a good mood around that time and she was very helpful. Sogand jan is very supportive, pushing and encouraging. I am so glad that I have her as a mentor and can get her advice. However, I am not sure how it will go on since I am moving far away now, but we are going to be in touch and I will definitely have her consultations.”

“I’ve had such an amazing experience with the IAWF Mentorship Program. My mentor has been a constant source of support and encouragement. In fact, she is the reason I was nominated as a speaker for the Rising Star panel for the 2017 IAWF conference. I got to speak to the entire conference about my experiences in both the private and public sector. It was such an honor!”

“The IAWF’s mentorship program is a perfect fit for anyone who wishes to get connected and gain some valuable lessons from a professional in their designated industry. The mentors will guide the mentees into finding their career path and advise them along the way. This program is phenomenal for students or recent graduates who wishes to find their career paths while an expert supports and guides them through it.”

“I have really enjoyed my experience with the mentorship program. I have been exposed to so many beautiful and peaceful souls that have helped me work on my inner peace. I personally really love the workshops; my two favorites have been the mindful workshops. They both really made me feel so peaceful and I learned new ways to be more mindful and new ways to bring peace to my daily life.”
