Biography

Nahid Pirnazar is a Lecturer of Iranian Studies at UCLA. She received her Ph.D. from UCLA in June 2004, in Iranian Studies with an emphasis on Judeo-Persian Literature, Classical Persian Literature and Iranian Jewish History. She has been teaching the Habib Levy Visiting Professorship of Judeo-Persian Literature since 2000, and the History of Iranian Jews since 2007 at UCLA. The founder and president of The House of Judeo-Persian Manuscripts, Dr. Pirnazar works on academic research and publishes Iranian Jewish literary works. Her range of works have been featured in academic publications including Irano-Judaica, Ir?nshen?si, and Ir?nn?meh. She is also a contributor to the Encyclopaedia Iranica and the Encyclopedia of Jews in the Islamic World. Dr. Pirnazar�s recent effort, the editing, English translation and publication of Women in the Shahnameh by Prof. Jalal Khaleghi Motlagh, is a unique work on the role of women in Pre-Islamic Iran and Persian epic literature.
