Biography

Dr. Cutting serves as Faculty at the Loma Linda University School of Behavioral Health. Additionally, she is the Founder and President of Derive Family Therapy located in the state of Washington. Dr. Cutting holds extensive training and experience in behavioral healthcare and agency administration. As a systems therapist and educator, Dr. Cutting is an expert at assessing community needs and using data and research to bridge gaps in services. She received a Doctorate of Marital and Family Therapy from Loma Linda University’s Advanced Standing program. Dr. Cutting completed her Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Whitworth University and holds a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Washington University in Psychology, with a minor in Women and Gender Studies.

Dr. Cutting has served on both healthcare and nonprofit administrative committees, including Racial Justice and Fundraising committees for the YWCA. Her clinical experience includes working with adults, adolescents, and children in inpatient and outpatient settings. She is an approved clinical supervisor in the state of Washington and is dedicated to the guidance and oversight of early therapy professionals. She has advanced training in various clinical modalities, including Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. In her private practice, Dr. Cutting specializes in couples therapy and is an Advanced Trained EFT Therapist through the International Centre of Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy. She has pursued extensive education in multicultural competence, and religion as well. Dr. Cutting holds formal training in yoga as recognized by the Yoga Alliance and received education and training in meditation led by Venerable Geshe Thupten Phelgye, member of Tibetan Parliament in exile.

With over 10 years of experience in philanthropy, advocacy, and mental health, Dr. Cutting is passionate about giving back to her community of Iranian Americans. She has advocated in various county, state, and national legislative campaigns on behalf of women and families, including those for the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). In addition to IAWF, organizations she has been a part of include the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy, American Counseling Association, American Association of University Women, International Centre of Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy, International Association of Women, and more.

Most importantly to her, Dr. Cutting is a dedicated wife and mother. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and is known for her use of art and music as forms of self-expression.
