Biography

Atoosa Vakili was born in Iran and moved to the US as a high school student. She attended Binghamton University of New York, receiving her undergraduate degrees in Mathematics/Computer Science and French Language & Literature. She moved to California to attend University of San Diego, School of Law. In 1989, she graduated law school and was admitted to the Bar of California and the 9th Federal Circuit Courts in the same year. Atoosa started her law career at the San Diego civil litigation firm of Backes, Friesen and Wolf. In 1994, she founded the law office of Atoosa Vakili, practicing in the areas of immigration, bankruptcy, business and real estate law. In 2009, she limited her practice to Immigration law and formed US Immigration Legal Services.
Atoosa is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and the California Bar Association. She is the chair of Iranian American Bar Association (IABA) Foundation for 2014-2015 and the Pro Bono/Community Outreach Chair for IABA-Orane County chapter. She is active in philanthropy and is member of the executive board of Children’s Hope International Literacy & Development and youth leader for Youth Ambassadors of Hope, a subdivision of Children’s Hope International. Atoosa is also a member of Circle of Visionaries of the Iranian American Women’s Foundation.
