Bahar Tavakolian moved from Iran to the U.S. as a teenager. She studied engineering in college and has a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Cornell University. After graduation, Bahar moved to California where she worked in the aerospace industry while teaching as an adjunct professor at UCLA. After a few years in California, Bahar then moved to Princeton and joined a biotech startup company where she was part of a team leading the development of DNA diagnostic micro-devices. She was one of the original team that saw the company through an exciting and successful IPO.

After several intense years of working in the technology startup field, while living in NY city and commuting to Princeton, Bahar decided to change course and spend more time raising her young family. Before long though, Bahar decided to try something new and entered into the world of New York City residential real estate- her Act 2. She rose in this industry and is now an industry leader and the Founder and Principal of The BAHAR Team/COMPASS, a group of top agents serving Manhattan & Brooklyn. Bahar is consistently ranked among the top brokers in the city, is a member of REALM, an elite group of top agents in the residential real estate industry in the U.S. and the world, and is consistently ranked by the Wall Street Journal/Real Trends among the top 0.5% of agents nationwide. She has been quoted in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and other leading industry publications.

Bahar currently lives in Manhattan, New York with her husband Majid. They have two children, Sara and Kourosh.
