Biography

Farima Sadigh Mostowfi is Associate Teaching Professor and the director and founder of the Persian Language and Culture Program at Georgetown University. In this role, she has developed curricula for eight different courses as well as new Persian multimedia learning tools, and teaches several Persian and French courses each year. Previously, Farima taught Persian, created Persian programs, and evaluated Persian courses at the American University, George Washington University, and various other language-learning organizations. She has also co-authored two Persian and French learning textbooks. She has over 30 years’ experience teaching second language acquisition in Persian and French. Farima is also fluent in French and Azeri.
Outside of the classroom, she is a committee member for the CLS, FLAS and Fulbright scholarship programs for students of Persian and French. She also serves as an active member and consultant for Persian pedagogy in organizations such as AATP, STARTALK, ISIS, ACTFL, MESA and ACE/PONSI.
In her free time, Farima is the chairwoman of the Friends of the Children’s Cultural Development Center, an organization which advocates for the creation of libraries in rural areas of Iran.
