Nasrin Afzali received the BS in Atomic & Molecular Physics from IUST University. Rreceived

MA in Women’s studies from Tehran University. PhD student at Concordia University. Research

interest is Muslim Women, sexuality, Hijab and sport. Women’s rights activist and journalist.

Commentator in “Women in Iran”, the first online feminist website in Iran, editor of the

“Feminist Theories” section in Zanan magazine, analyst at Shirzanan, the only female sport

magazine in Middle East. Research assistant in a project on women and sport as part of a wider

research project on Women’s Empowerment in Muslim Contexts (WEMC).

Now, Director of the Hamsari NGO, providing free legal consultancy and awareness raising for

women, and the editor of Farsi/ Dari page of WLUML website- Women Living Under Muslim

Laws.
