Roya Iravani is a writer, producer, graphic artist, educator and award winning documentary filmmaker with projects filming on multiple continents. She began her career producing documentaries for nonprofit organizations, eventually branching out into for-profit television ventures and docudrama. In 2007, she began teaching aspiring filmmakers at Riverside Community College and later continued reaching out to a new generation of filmmakers by founding the innovative ARYA Documentary Film school in Tehran. Despite her passion for education, Iravani has continued directing and producing projects, remains an active member of various film-making organizations (WIF – IDA – AFI), and has earned awards from organizations such as SPJ, CCSAT, and the Gold Medal of Skills, USA. She holds a B.A. from Cal State Fullerton, a M.F.A. from Cal State Los Angeles, unfinished M.F.T Chapman and a Ph.D. from Colombia universities. Roya has been Co-Chair and host of two educational seminars which are titled as “Talent – Economy and law in Cinema” and “Sound in documentary” in Iran. Roya Iravani deeply believes that films are the most intimate, expressive, and powerful of all popular contemporary art forms.
