Susie Banikarim is a media strategist and consultant based in New York City. She is also a regular on-camera commentator on media issues. Ms. Banikarim was most recently a 2014 Nieman fellow at Harvard University. Before her selection as a fellow, she was the editorial producer for Katie Couric’s syndicated talk show, which she helped launch and oversaw its hard news coverage. Previously, she served on the management team for Newsweek Daily Beast as deputy director of editorial. Ms. Banikarim also created and executive produced Daily Beast TV. Prior to Newsweek Daily Beast, Ms. Banikarim was with ABC News where she served as a senior producer for World News and was an anchor producer for Diane Sawyer. She has also produced for George Stephanopoulos and Charlie Gibson. Ms. Banikarim has received the Edward R. Murrow Award for feature reporting and five Emmy award nominations. She is a cum laude graduate of Barnard College and has a master’s degree from Columbia University’s School of Journalism.
