Become a Mentor

A mentor is someone who has years of experience in a given field and would like to serve the community by helping future generations. Upon applying to become an IAWF mentor, you will be paired with a mentee looking for someone like you to provide guidance, support, and advice in their professional development. We will provide mentors with in-depth orientation, ongoing liaison, and logistical support to ensure comfort and success in the mentor role.

What is expected of mentors:

  • Accept the relationship for 10 months.
  • Spend two to three hours per month developing mentorship relationship.
  • Meet with mentor either in person, with phone meetings, or with video meetings.
  • Set goals and expectations with mentee.
  • Follow through on any commitments made.
  • Complete IAWF’s mentorship exercises with mentee.
  • Evaluate the relationship at various points throughout program.
