Biography

Dr. Ahmad Mesbah is a father and a mentor to many of Iranian American professionals in Orange County. He had the foresight that by having a well-organized community, we as immigrants, can support each other better, accomplish higher, contribute more and represent ourselves in a brighter light. He was among the first members of the Iranian Cultural Center and one of the founding members of NIPOC. As the board member of NIPOC, Dr. Mesbah has had a key role in bringing the IA professionals together to connect. He contributed in Mehregan Festival, to celebrate and share Iranian culture, visited by thousands of people for many years. Dr. Mesbah joined forces with City of Irvine in their planning efforts to maximize green and open space in the city, and later on with the closure of El Toro Base and development of the Irvine Great Park. He has served on the Board of Irvine Valley College and Multi-Cultural Committee at the Irvine Senior center. He holds a bachelor degree from Northern Illinois University in journalism, Master of Arts from the Annenberg School of Communication and a Master and Ph. D. from School of Arts and Science at Penn. Before his return to US, he worked for national Iranian Oil Company and taught at Aryiamehr (Sharif) university. He was an economic advisor to Abbas Hoveyda, the former prime minister of Iran from 1973 through 77. He lives in Irvine with his wife Ziba and has two daughters; Mitra Taraneh and Targol.
