Biography

Delaram Cavey is a career member of the U.S. Foreign Service, specializing in Middle East Political Affairs. She speaks Persian Farsi, Arabic, and French. Ms. Cavey has served overseas in US Embassies in Amman, Abu Dhabi, and Riyadh. Her Washington assignments include work in the bureaus of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor, Population Refugees, Migration, International Security Non-Proliferation, and Near East Affairs.
Ms. Cavey joined the Foreign Service in 2003 after a career in Business Development. She arrived to the United States as a refugee under Political Asylum when her family fled the Iranian revolution. She worked her way through George Mason University where she earned a Bachelors Degree in Communication. She lives in her hometown of Alexandria with her two young daughters, Catherine and Claire.
Ms. Cavey is a retired classical ballerina who trained and performed with The Washington Ballet. She is an avid photographer and an aspiring chef.
