Biography

Firuzeh Mahmoudi is a serial social entrepreneur currently working on her fourth start-up. She helped launch and direct a $13 million UN project to promote environmentally benign health practices around the world. She was a founding member and now Chair of the Board of Golestan – an Iranian cultural and language immersion school that won the Ashoka award in 2015.
And she is founder and CEO of United for Iran and Irancubator. United for Iran was launched in 2009 in response to the disputed election, and ensuing violence and repression, of the regime of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. The organization held events in 110 cities in partnership with 7 Nobel Laureates and the band U2.

Firuzeh’s latest project, IranCubator, is building the platform, the processes, and technology stack to bring secure mobile applications to mobile phones in Iran. These applications protect women from harassment and domestic abuse, promote electoral transparency, and protect the rights of ethnic minorities. Irancubator is the only civic technology project focused on Iran.
