Biography

Haleh Mahboubi Gabbay was born in Tehran Iran to Minoo and Behrouz Mahboubi in 1969.
While she honors her roots always, Haleh believes we must grow with grace and purpose,
wherever life may lead us. Haleh migrated to the United States in 1978 with her parents and two
siblings where she attended Akiba Academy until transitioning to Westlake School For Girls. As
she prepared to begin her senior year at Westlake in the summer of 1978, her academia was
met with affection as she met her love and life partner, Dariush Gabbay. After a year together,
Haleh and Dariush got married and continued to cultivate the seeds of their future. Haleh then
began university and graduated from Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern
California in May 1993 with an emphasis in Real Estate Finance. In April 1994, the emphasis in
her life changed from school to family, as Haleh and Dariush were blessed with their firstborn
son, Daniel, who changed their world forever. Four years later in March 1998, they welcomed
their second child – a beautiful daughter, Nina. Their third child, a son named Eli, completed
their family seven years later in September 2005. Haleh’s dedication to her family has resulted
in joy, love, unity, and a support system that has inspired her to pursue her other ambitions, as
well.
Haleh has also channeled her zest for life into many philanthropic efforts, artistic pursuits, and
opportunities that have impacted her community and peers on a grander level. From 1986 to
2000, Haleh became an active member of the Iranian Education Foundation and helped
facilitate the organization’s main objective – to raise funds for the Beverly Hills Unified School
District through various Iranian-inspired events, such as a night of Iranian music and poetry.
Haleh has also had the pleasure of reciting poetry by her favorite poets and scholars on stage.
She participated in B’nai Brith, as well as the honorings of Simin Behbahani and Mahin Amid –
two admired and accomplished Persian poets of our time. Through her expressions of self –
both in print and on stage, she has strived to not honor the depth of her roots, but to also infuse
her audiences with a sense of connection to Iranian art and a pride for the culture.
Haleh has also been heavily involved with the Farhang Foundation since 2012 – a non-religious,
non-political, not-for-profit organization that celebrates and promotes Iranian art and culture for
the benefit of the community at large. Through Farhang, Haleh has been a yearly co-chair of the
Gala Committee plays a significant role in executing the event. She is also a member of
Farhang’s Nowruz Committee and co-created the Spring March that takes place yearly at
LACMA. Additionally, Haleh is a member of the Shabeh Yalda Committee and has recited works
by Hafiz in addition to her original storytelling. During the COVID era, Haleh performed virtually
in honor of Shabeh Yalda, reaching thousands of viewers around the world. Haleh is also a
member of the CEO council, which provides after-school Persian classes for elementary school
students – a program both created and sponsored by the Farhang Foundation.
Since 2012 to the present, Haleh is an active real estate agent specializing in luxury estates.
With her business partner, Maria Mahboubi, Haleh co-founded Mahboubi Luxury Estates – a
group part of the Aaron Kirman Group under Compass Beverly Hills. AKG is the top luxury real
estate team in Los Angeles that has accrued $9 billion in property sales. Aaron Kirman is also
the #1 agent in California and in the top 4 in the United States, and Haleh feels privileged to
work and grow under his leadership.
Through her many endeavors, pursuits, passions, and roles in life, Haleh honors the different
platforms through which she can connect with humanity, share the values of her culture, and
inspire others in her field. While she wears many hats, she always wears her heart on her
sleeve, too – as her main goal is to make the world a richer, more compassionate, and
enlightened place.
