Biography

Dr. Leila Jahangiri is Professor and Chair of the Department of Prosthodontics at New York University College of Dentistry since 2002; and, serves NYU as a university senator. She completed her B.D.S. from King’s College, University of London (UK) and D.M.D. training, Certificate in Prosthodontics, and Masters of Medical Sciences degrees from Harvard where she was the recipient of the Joseph L. Henry Award for “Overall Achievement in Clinical and Research Training and Contribution to the School.” Dr. Jahangiri has built a reputation for pushing boundaries in innovations in curriculum. She has trained over 45 dental schools in their curriculum development. Outside of dentistry, she lectures extensively on leadership, mentoring, and teaching effectiveness. Her book, A Guide to Better Teaching (Rowman and Littlefield, 2012), is a core textbook in two business schools.  She has been an active clinician, researcher, and teacher since 1991. Her book, Clinical Cases in Prosthodontics (Blackwell-Wiley, 2010), is available in five languages. Dr. Jahangiri received New York University’s Distinguished Teaching Award in 2014 and the Honorary Fellowship of the Academy of Distinguished Educators at NYU College of Dentistry in 2015.
