Biography

Ramita Navai is an award-winning foreign affairs journalist and author who has reported from over thirty-five countries. She was the Tehran correspondent for The Times and has reported for the United Nations in Pakistan, Iraq and Iran. She has made twenty documentaries for Channel 4’s Unreported World, winning an Emmy for Syria Undercover (FRONTLINE PBS). She makes features for Channel 4 News and has won a Royal Television Society Award and the Foreign Press Association News Story of the Year Award. She has recently made a documentary for Channel 4’s Dispatches and FRONTLINE PBS about militias in Iraq. Her first book City of Lies: Love, Sex, Death and the Search for Truth in Tehran won Debut Political Book of the Year and was awarded the Royal Society of Literature’s Jerwood Prize for non-fiction. She is contributing author to Shifting Sands: The Unravelling of the Old Order in the Middle East.
